Research Projects
The CREATElab offer a number of research projects designed for students, and can be tailored for undergraduate, honours or post-graduate levels of study. Postdoctoral research fellowships are also available through CREATElab.
Research projects in the CREATElab focus primarily on mechanical circulatory and respiratory support systems including ventricular assist devices (VADs) and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO). Prototype development is completed on site using a range of 3D printers, moulding facilities and mechanical workshop, while complex manufacturing is completed through the extensive resources of Monash University. Prototype evaluation is also completed on site using numerical simulations (computational fluid dynamics, finite element analysis, lumped parameter models), in-vitro test rigs (mock circulation loops, blood circulation loops), and in-vivo using an in-house facility available through AMREP.
